New Headteacher Announcement

The Governing Body are pleased to announce that Kevin McVittie has been appointed as the new Headteacher of Hotspur Primary School. Kevin will take up the post in January 2021 when Miles Wallis-Clarke steps down after nearly 16 years as Head.

Kevin has been Deputy Head at Hotspur since 2017. Prior to that he was Assistant Head and Head of Maths at West Jesmond Primary School. 

The appointment process culminated in interviews today in front of a panel of Governors with advice from Ian Dawson, Head of School Effectiveness at Newcastle City Council and Becky Jackson, Headteacher at Cragside Primary School. Jon Bryan, Chair of the Governing Body said: "We are delighted to appoint Kevin to succeed Miles in January. In the three years that he has been with us, Kevin has been a real asset to the school. We have no doubt that he will make an excellent Headteacher.'

Miles Wallis-Clarke said, 'This is fantastic news for Hotspur. I know that Kevin has the integrity, compassion, skills and vision to lead Hotspur on the next part of the school's journey. He embodies the ethos of the school and will build on its strengths and successes whilst bringing his own drive and ambition for the school to evolve and excel in new ways in the future.'
