Autumn Term 2018 Singing Opportunities

There are two great singing opportunities this term for children who would like a bit of a challenge.

Remembrance Concert

On Sunday 11th November we have been asked to sing a song called ‘Remember’ by local composer Emily Barden at a special concert to mark 100 years since the end of WWl. The concert is at 5pm and tickets are available from Sage Gateshead.

Ceremony of Carols

We are joining with other local primary schools to sing Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols at St Gabriel’s Church on Wednesday 5th December at 6pm. This is a beautiful piece which is more complex than pieces we normally sing. The concert will be conducted by Tom Edney a former pupil at Cragside and Heaton Manor who is now studying for a masters degree in choral conducting at Cambridge University. It will be hard work to learn it but incredibly rewarding when we pull it off! This concert will be free with a retiring collection.

We shall be rehearsing on Tuesdays straight after school until 4:15 pm for both of these events. Claire McGrath is happy for children to sing first and then arrive late at Tuesday dancing club if they wish to do both.

Watch these two films of the pieces - we will not be so gender exclusive!
